Day Care Daze

Izzy started at Day Care for her trial days this week. I was there most of the time. She did pretty well, although given how hard it is to get her to nap when she's at home in a nice quiet dark room, the chances of her napping at nursery are somewhat reduced with so much going on. I am sure she'll get used to it. However this week she got home and has been so exhausted she's napped for England on her return.
As you can see from the picture where Izzy is in the bouncer on the RHS she is already watching the other kids to see how it's done. It was an education for me too, seeing the older babies and their different stages of development. I can see her immune system is also going to get a hammering pretty quickly, and she'd better learn to stand up for herself as she together with Alex are the youngest in the class. There are 3 teachers and 8 babies so pretty good ratio going on. We're heading off to the Finger Lakes for Thanksgiving now, and then back to work on Monday...

Cold Turkey

I've just returned from a 3 day trip to a work conference in Washington. I am going back to work after US Thanksgiving (2 weeks) but had decided to go on this key conference in advance of my return. Was very strange to be away from Izzy and I was sad to leave her. However the conference was worth it and I managed to hold myself together.

Lucy looked after Izzy by day, and did a brilliant job. Not sure Izzy even noticed I was gone. Boo hoo. Malc. did the breakfast/evening/night shift. We have started weaning her on to formula anyway so she was OK with bottles. It does seem that she drank a lot more when I wasn't around though than she would normally get. Let's just call her Isabella "Roly Poly" Whitehurst.

It is wonderful to be back and get super big smiles. I can now enjoy the next two weeks even more.

New England in the Fall

We went out of town for a walk in the beautiful Autumn colours this weekend. The weather was perfect. Malc. carried Izzy cos I can barely carry myself. Actually I'm going to the gym now and am having some personal training sessions to get me back (?) in shape. There is a creche which is great. Anyway was a perfect Autumnal day (70 degrees). I can't believe it's November, no doubt it will switch to Winter and snow overnight soon.

Graduation at Sunset

Isabella graduated to her big seat this weekend. Today we went for a walk in a beautiful Autumn day, watching the sunset over Liberty and the Empire State Building. If you look very carefully you'll see them in the pictures (??) It's Halloween today, I felt like a bad mum cos Isabella wasn't in fancy dress, unlike every other person out there. I wonder if her being dressed as a bear yesterday counts.
