Snow and Fondue

Well the snow fell, and looks like Winter started. We invested (as one tends to do with the prices in Switzerland) in a couple of sledges, and went off up the local hills. We went to a place where they have a few facilities, including a lift thing you can attach your sledge to and be dragged up the hill. We were too stingy to pay for a while. However after Malc had dragged Bella up the hill a few times and I had tipped Sebby headfirst in to the snow on several occasions we decided to invest. We were pleasantly surprised at how much Bella enjoyed it. I think Sebastian less so, after his multiple face plants. Afterwards we had a fondue in traditional style, which Sebstain seemed to enjoy a lot more.

My latest art work

I haven't posted any of Bella's recent creations, she does lots of arts and crafts with Pimpa. I was particularly struck by this one, as her drawing seems to suddenly progressed from lines and circles to a flower, sunshine, grass and birds. As part of her application form for the international school next year, she has to draw a self portrait, so maybe there's hope, I'd better brief Pimpa now.

Oliver's Birthday

It was Oliver's 4th birthday last weekend, and our only social engagement of any note. It was fancy dress so Bella went as Belle (from Beauty and the Beast). When Granny and Grandad recently visited (and looked after the kids whilst we went away) they kindly brought Bella three dresses (Belle, Snow White/White Hurst as Bella refers to her and Minnie Mouse) something to do with the hairdressers daughter. Anyway Bella loves dressing up as a princess or fairy, and now she has an even bigger collection to choose from, and Belle is the current favourite. Sebastian went as a little monkey, although by the time we took any photos the sweat-suit was off. In fact as I look at the pictures it seems apart from Oliver no other boys were in fancy dress. Hmmm see previous post

and now for a disappearing trick

The difference between boys and girls

is ably demonstrated by Sebastian, who can now walk, but prefers to climb on anything he can find. He also copies Bella's every move, climbing on the high step with her to brush his teeth, alternatively climbing on to the toilet seat, he tried to get in to the bath from the step head first tonight. You really can't turn your back. We used to congratulate Bella when she climbed on something she did it so rarely. However by this age Bella had a small repertoire of words, mainly beggining with the letter b and d. Sebastian on the other hand has screams and yells, and something that vaguely represents au'revoir. Hmmm, who knew it started so young.

Mini-he

guess which one's daddy?

Sebastian's birthday

We had a halloween party to celebrate Sebastian's 1st birthday, a small affair
with some of Bella's school friends/neighbours and younger siblings. Bella started as a witch but quickly changed in to a princess. We had a few party games and lots of e-numbers which got the weekend off to a good start.

Seb's first (Welsh) rugby kit

Sebby got his first rugby kit from Uncle Nick, and did a pretty good impression of before the match and after the match, just to prove he is cut out for the game...

Call me bones..

We had some halloween fun, with a couple of parties (see birthday post later) and some trick and treating. Sebastian does the closest impression he can of a skeleton.

Autumn Hike

With the beautiful autumn colours, the days drawing in, and the ski season approaching, we decided to go for a hike. Two back packs and a map we went into the Jura and had a lovely walk, and tested out some of the kids winter gear.
