A trip to the Mountains

We don't go to our mountain place very often in the Summer, but when we do, we always say we should go more often. It's always a good time to go when it is in the 30s down near Geneva, cos it's coller up there. We have been up twice this year, and managed to catch up with Carla and Sue and the kids, as well as Becky and Christophe and thier kids who live just round the corner anyhow, but spend most of their weekends up there.

Going for a hike and checking out the tiny frogs and orange bellied newts

Bike and boys stuff.

Summer sports

During the summer holidays Bella dn Sebby went to various summer sports camps, football, swimming, ballet and tennis.

Luau for Bella's 6th Birthday

birthday cake, surrounded by the giant sunflowers...

Bella was 6 in August. Being born in August has its downsides, always the youngest in the year, and all your friends away on holidays when it's your birthday. The good news is it's normally great weather (at least it is in Switzerland), and you get to have two birthday parties, one in August and one when you go back to school. The first one was Hawaii themed. We had tracked down the only kids grass skirt in Geneva, and ordered some party gear from the UK for a 5th of the price. I managed to bring some birthday cakes back from the UK in my hand luggage. The Swiss franc is so strong just now, it makes everywhere esle seem soooooo cheap.

We had some sack races, just to get the competitive spirits going. The men's race was a photo finish, with Aled sustaining a key in the thigh injury as he dived over the line. The ladies was easily won by Becky. And the kids race...well everone's a winner, apart from those who left the race crying. Oh well, life's tough some times.

Managed to squeeze rather a lot of people on to our smaller deck for a BBQ.
