Luxury in the Catskills

Marino, Anna and young Alex invited us to stay with them in a place they've rented in the Catskills. Unlike the last time we came here camping, we were in the lap of luxury in an Architect designed huge house, with a pool, jacuzzi and acres and acres of wooded land. Although we did venture out with the kids in matching MacPacs, we spent most of the time relaxing around the pool and generally chilling out. Isabella wasn't too keen on the pool. Maybe it was too cold, maybe she just needs to get more familiar with it, or maybe she inherited the Whitehurst (non-existant) water gene. Unlike the Garcia family with their latin blood, we were the anglo-saxon crew with factor 30 and the full length swimming suit (for Izzy at least)

Graduation Day

It's the time of year in the US when everyone graduates, and I mean everyone. Isabella had her graduation yesterday, and received her "Certificate of Recognition". It was great, for the first time in my life I got to leave work early to go to my kid's graduation. I should've bought a new dress really, maybe next time.

Stand and Deliver

Isabella has just started to stand on her own. She doesn't realise she is doing it. Once she realises, if nothing is nearby then she sits down. Maybe the lead we've put in her shoes helps...ha.ha. As you can see our designer loft has turned into Toys R Us. Have ordered cool sleek toy chest in order to regain the occasional look of sanity.

Camping in the Catskills

Last weekend was Memorial weekend. We had decided this would be Izzy's first camping trip. We went to the Catskills upstate New York with Pete and Nicole. We had upgraded our tent to "family size" which meant we could use the portable cot. As it turned out Izzy preferred to sleep in my sleeping bag, with me, which was a bit of a challenge. Isabella enjoyed being outdoors, but all she wanted to do was eat everything on the ground, so the portable cot came in useful as a playpen. We don't mind her eating a bit of dirt now and then but this was constant; leaves, insects, dirt anything she could pick up. Did a nice walk and had some cool campfires. Weather was beautiful. Hopefully this will be the first of many camping trips.

New shoes...

Isabella was very excited to show off her new jelly shoes from Grandma Macc, to her friend Alex...and look they double as a teething toy too. Alex who can already walk, showed polite interest knowing she had a wardrobe full of shoes already.
