Uncle Nick in the Mountains

Nick and Michie and Marisa, borrowed our ski place for a week, and we joined them for the weekend. The snow was great as ever this season, and the weather had turned to Spring, which was nice. At the end of Saturday afternoon we all went for a ski with Bella which was fun. The toddlers joined us for apres ski (apres sieste in their case) and then we finished the day off at the local pizzeria.

New York and News

Well what have we been up to? Well as many of you will know it's all about snow this year in Europe, so mainly we've been skiing at the weekends. Bella goes in to lessons Saturday and Sunday morning. Saturday we put Sebby in the creche for the morning too, which he hates and mainly cries for the 2 hours. I will soon be writing a book on the differences between a child who goes to daycare from age 3 months, versus a child who is cared for by a nanny from 8 months. (I'll not be having a chapter on the child looked after by a stay at home mum...). Anyway we ski Saturday morning together and then normally we know other people skiing in the Verbier range too, so one or other of us hooks up with them over the weekend for some other skiing. I skied with Bella last time we went up. We just did a couple of blue runs, the ones she does in her lessons. I was very impressed, as she chatted to me as we skiied down. She had me follow her as she knew the route better than I (???). Amazing stuff. I am posting an early season photo of her getting her boots and skis fitted. Thinks nothing of wearing her Snow White outfit to the ski shop (in our building) and eating an apple just to stay in character.

Bella is still going through the princess stage, which I am advised could last another couple of years. I went to America with work last week, and took the opportunity of an evening in Manhattan with old friends drinking cocktails (without the worry of getting up in the morning) and a days shopping on Saturday. I single handedly brought America from the brink of recession..I am convinced there are more shops in Manhattan than in the whole of Switzerland.

I was torn on feeding the princess habit, however I knew if I bought the Disney Sleeping Beauty dress I would be the World's best mum at least for a while, so I succumbed...

As for Sebby, well we've taken (Bella and I) of calling him Mr. Bump. It's a good job we don't have social worker visits, as he is covered in bruises on his face, as he explores the World Sebby style. I guess he did always have a big head and somehow it finds the table edges, the walls and any other object in his way.
