Commugny Christmas Dinner

We had the Christmas Dinner at home last weekend. Managed to track down a turkey in France, as it's a bit early really, but even found sprouts and bought the rather sorry looking end of the box parsnips. Lots of fun had by all, here are a few photos.

Let it snow, snow, snow, snow, snow

Well we know Switzerland is snowy, and we all have our winter tyres on our 4x4 cars, and cupboards full of ski/snow gear as a matter of course. However we normally use them when we go to the mountains, not when we step outside our front doors. It's the heaviest snow fall in 25 years in the Geneva area apparently. 40 cm in 48 hours. Most I've seen in a city since we lived in Manhattan actually.
Snow disrupted play in several areas...I was supposed to be going to the UK for a meeting with my new company/boss/team (see next January post for more on this..) however couldn't get out of airport. Malc had to collect Chris's Aston Martin from a garage where he's trying to sell it, but the garage has gone bankrupt and if it wasn't collected it would disappear with the rest of the "assets". I think Malc was happy to get home alive and with the car in one piece. Now the neighbours are wondering why we have an Aston Martin with no number plates and summer tyres on sat in front of our house in the snow, next to the other 3 cars we own.
We also have work starting on the studio ski apartment we bought next door to our ski place in Siviez...did I mention that already? In my free time of which I suddenly have lots, I managed to contact the Swiss German owners of the next door apartment and convince them to sell it to us with the help of Babelfish. Now we can knock a hole through the wall and make ours bigger. I lined up some of our Geneva based Macedonian builders to take a holiday in the mountains and renovate it before the season starts at xmas. They were due to start when all the snow came. Thankfully they made their way through the snow, and up the mountain, where incredibly it isn't even snowing...so now they have 2 weeks to complete the work.

The decks and outside lights were finished just in time...apart from the handrails/barriers, where I am waiting a more reasonable quote.

The garden isn't finished, no grass, not that you can tell!

The poor masons (not the crossed leg variety) continue to work on the front walls and driveway, under my (now rather ambitious) instructions to be finished by end of next week This was before the snow and the Aston Martin came...

The rest of the family helps the neighbour clear in front of her house, as I helpfully take photographs of our lovely road in the snow.
