Big Heart

Here's Izzy in a jumper like the picture we bought just before she was born (see August blog). I am hoping to have her pose like the picture soon...just need a few stars for her to juggle.

Well time is flying. Work is keeping me busy, and Malc and I are still adjusting to try and balance work and parenthood, definitely a challenge.
Izzy still seems to get a new cold/cough every week. This is tending to interrupt her (and hence our) sleep. We keep thinking she must be teething, however nothing showing yet. She really does want to chew everything vigorously. She's had a pretty good selection of "first food solids" and seems to be fine with them all so far. We haven't got in to a rhythm yet with feeding her solids, but will do so once she hits 6 months in 2 weeks time.

She is doing well at Daycare, and leading the way when it comes to sitting up, although she definitely prefers standing if someone will hold her hands . She is pretty adept at leaning forwards now, grabbing a toy and sitting back up again. Apparently if one of the older kids crawls over to take "her" toys at Daycare she puts up a good tug of war fight. Still not turning over purposefully, although she has done it a few times in error.

(Uncle) Nick was over this weekend and even put in a spot of babysitting when we all went to the local ski hills and took it in turns to watch Izzy. It's funny how Izzy doesn't fuss with Nick like she will with some people, we reckon it's the round face and bald head, looks sort of familiar.

Malc was away last week and I am off to the UK for the weekend and a few days next week with work, so we are both getting the opportunity for some one on one bonding.

Supper Time

Learning to hold the bottle and feed herself. In this case to sleep as it's bed time. She can manage a small bottle well, but is challenged by the large bottles.
She fell asleep on the beanbag watching Baby Mozart this afternoon. I think this is the second time ever I have seen her take a nap spontaneously like that.

First Foods / Face Packs

More first foods/face packs. This one is yummy organic green bean mush (???). I'd like to say I made it myself, but sadly I didn't. I can barely make it back in time for dinner, never mind make the stuff. I am however bidding for a book on ebay about baby foods...Annabel Karmel, apparently she's the woman. It remains to be seen just how much use the recipes get. Am hopeful I will turn in to Earth Mother of the kitchen.

And here Izzy is sitting up. She's pretty good for a while and then she makes a stretch too far and takes a nose dive or head smack. Big Ted is strategically placed behind her for such moments. You probably can't tell but her hair is growing now, although it could be a while before she sports her first pony tail.

It's been a busy day today, as we've been to the gym and the cinema (matinee). How come everything happens before lunch nowadays.

Going up in the World

Nearly five months old now, so we got Izzy a high chair and a box of baby cereal to celebrate. Buying a high chair was a difficult decision. Most of the chairs out here look capable of flying to the moon and back, and take up half the apartment. So when I saw the Ikea minimalist chair on a design site, I knew it was the chair for us, and only $15.99...what a bargain. We only give her a spoonful of cereal maybe once a day. She seems to like it though, especially when she can grab the spoon and smear its contents everywhere.

More Christmas in Macc

A few more photies. Izzy admiring Uncle Nick's hairstyle. Izzy meeting George and Maria, and George pretending not to be interested in older women. Izzy checking out the contents of the xmas crackers, and striking a nice pose for the camera.

Christmas in Macc

Here we have lots of Christmas pictures. We have Great Grandmas from Wales. The full set of Nanna and Pops, Mum and Dad and Granny and Grandad from Macclesfield. The four female generations from the Whitehurst/Holmes side (plus Jo the pink cat from Kingston)
